It's Monday - What Are You Reading

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? - a weekly meme hosted by Sheila to give bloggers another opportunity to tell others what they are reading.

Despite the fact that I am still under the weather with a nagging cough that won't go away and we had an unexpected home renovation project to start over the weekend, I did get a lot of reading done, which makes me happy.  There were a couple of days during my lunch break at work where I couldn't read and, well, I got a bit grumpy because of it, so the fact that I could catch up on some reading at home made me feel better.

What I read last week:
This Book is Overdue:  How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All by Marilyn Johnson  (thoughts about this book here)
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie (read for an upcoming Classics Circuit post)
Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel (still thinking about this book two days after finishing it -- will definitely be posting something about it soon!)

What I'm reading this week:
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie (for the same upcoming Classics Circuit post)
The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen
The Devil and Sherlock Holmes:  Tales of Murder, Madness and Obsession by David Grann
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder

As I am going out of town next week for a business trip part of this week will be spent deciding which books to bring along with me.  Believe me, it could take a while.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Sorry you have a nagging cough. It took 3 wks for my hubby to get over his. I get crabby if I can't get in a little reading every day too.

  2. I'm currently re-reading 'The Little Giant of Aberdeen County' for a book group discussion this Thursday. Also, a book on the American colonies that's a good, general history I can use to branch off from there to more U.S. history. Then there's a mystery called 'The Serialist,' about a ghost writer who finds himself framed for the murders of the man on death row whose story he's supposed to be telling. Almost finished that one. Also, two books on the Salem witch trials. Busy as always!

  4. Nise -- thanks, I'm heading to the doctor tomorrow to get checked out. Two and a half weeks is too long to have a cough.
Lisa -- have you read The Lace Reader? It's a novel set in Salem that alludes to its "witchy" past.
Jennifer -- I forgot how much I enjoyed Agatha Christie's books. I'm going to have to fit some more in with my other reading.

  7. I hope you feel better soon! I've started "Joe Jones" by Anne Lamott; since the week is half over, I think that might be it!

What do you think? Good or bad, I'd love to hear from you (but be nice - I'm sensitive!)
