It's Monday - What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at bookjourney to allow us to share with others in the book-loving cyberworld what is on our reading plates.
Books finished:
- Russian Winter by Daphne Kolotay
- The Debba by Avner Mandelman
- Hitler's Canary by Sandi Toksvig
- Emma by Jane Austen (need to finish by Wednesday for book club discussion and I'm struggling through it)
- Dracula by Bram Stoker
- At Home: A Short History of Private Life by Bill Bryson
- Fall of Giants by Ken Follett
- Best European Fiction 2010 edited by Aleksandar Hemon
I will be starting a new "series" of posts this week, called A Blogger Recommended, where I will write a post/review about a book that I read based on the post/review of another blogger. I hope that you check it out ....
What are you reading this week?
Wow! You're reading a lot of books! I am most interested in Emma.
ReplyDeleteI tried reading Emma once and I got stuck too. I hear so many people who love this book and I just couldn't get through it. I want to try again some day.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Fall of Giants - hope you're enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Hope you get to finishing Emma. I'm just halfway through Pride & Prejudice. Dracula, wow! What a great pick. That's TBR for me, too.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Monday post. Cheers!
I found EMMA really hard in the beginning but the later half improved. I think there is more to discuss than I anticipated! I hope you come to the discussion either way.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I didn't realize you could get stuck reading Emma. I plan to read it before year-end; but I think I'll start with the audiobook to get me over "the hump." Good luck with finishing it; and enjoy your book discussion.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're having trouble with Emma. I loved it! Am thinking of rereading. Yes, she's a bitchy, superior know-it-all, but she's still fun and tries hard and is very caring even if she does all sorts of things the wrong way. Watch Clueless (based on Emma), maybe that'll help you get over the hump and zip through to the end in time!
ReplyDeleteI get the sense I may have appreciated Emma more if I had read it when I was younger. It will make for a good discussion at our group tomorrow.
