Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This week we are asked to list the 10 books we resolve to read in 2011.
I have about 30 books I have resolved to read for the challenges in which I am participating, but there are several other books on the ol' to-read pile that I am eager to get to. So, in no particular order, here are the books I resolve to read in 2011:
- Skippy Dies by Paul Murray
- The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
- The Cookbook Collector by Allegra Goodman
- The Distant Hours by Kate Morton
- Possession by A.S. Byatt
- The Great Typo Hunt by Jeff Deck and Benjamin D. Herson
- Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin by Timothy Snyder
- Nine Lives: In Search of the Sacred in Modern India by William Dalrymple
- How to Live by Sarah Bakewell
- A Kind of Intimacy by Jenn Ashworth
Hah, the Great Typo Hunt is my kind of book as I see them everywhere :D I'm curious about The Distant Hours & Possession, too, but I think I want to try Byatt's The Children's Hour first as it's supposed to be fantastic. Thanks for dropping by my blog :)
ReplyDelete"Bloodland" sounds promising, if a bit..gruesome. I assume it focuses on the eastern war?
ReplyDeleteKate Morton's The Forgotten Garden was one of my favorite reads last year. I really want to read The Distant Hours soon!
ReplyDeleteI have read The Thirteenth Tale & actually just finished and reviewed The Distant Hours. Both great reads in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Possession....Hope you enjoy it, too. And when I was compiling my list, I noticed that I have not one but two Dalyrymple books on my TBR. Eek! Need to get busy on this author.
ReplyDeleteI thought about The Thirteenth Tale for the What's in a Name Challenge, but changed my mind. I'd still like to read it one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting in line for Skippy Dies and The Distant Hours from my local library. Have heard some interesting things about Skippy Dies, so looking forward to that one!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to read Possession too
I am usually terrible whenever I set a reading goal for myself, but I am tempted to do this. It will be fun to comb my TBR and choose 10 for the year that are must reads.
