It's Monday - What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at bookjourney to allow us to share with others in the book-loving cyberworld what is on our reading plates.
This week I finished the following books:
- The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
- Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullo
- Molly Fox's Birthday by Deirdre Madden
- Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
- Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
- Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick
- A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
- The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
Sounds like you had a good reading week. You're into Hemingway, it seems! I loved The Thirteenth Tale, read it years ago.
ReplyDeleteYes, the situation in Japan is terrible. It's so close to home in a way, it's a modern country, just like ours and it's hard to imagine what it is like for them at the moment.
Loved Unbroken. I've got reliable Wife waiting for me. Nice reading week.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a great week! Hemingway remains one of those authors I know I should read but just haven't gotten around to yet. Ugh :/ Have you read anything by him before?
ReplyDeleteIt's insane what's happening in Japan right now. So difficult to imagine that many people gone forever...
ReplyDeleteAvoiding TV helped I guess, you read a lot last week! This week's a Hemingway week?
I read A Reliable Wife sometime last year and really enjoyed it ... not at all what I expected.
ReplyDeleteI have Unbroken on my wishlist ... but then I always forget to buy it because something else catches my eye!
Have a great week!
I want to read Their Eyes Were Watching God - I just picked it up last week at a library sale :)
ReplyDeleteI am reading Blood of My Brother by James Lepore right now. Amazing book!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I might read The Thirteenth Tale, but haven't got there yet. I guess somebody needs to read Hemingway...(not a fan here).
ReplyDeleteI haven't been watching television (I don't in general), but have been keeping up with the coverage on Japan via internet. It seems like one thing just keeps following another. I hope things settle down so they can really start recovery.
Here's my Monday: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/03/its-monday-what-are-you-reading_14.html
I read the Paris Wife a couple of weeks ago, which is a novel about Hemingway's first wife Hadley and their life in Paris. It's a great story and that got me interested in Hemingway's work during that period; the Classics Circuit is doing a tour featuring the Lost Generation and I will be posting about these two Hemingway books for it (watch for it on the 22nd!)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like A Moveable Feast - it is one of my favorites from Hemingway! And I can't wait to read A Reliable Wife, too - I heard it's absolutely incredible!
ReplyDeleteQuite an impressive list.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night! I hope you can come!
