It's Monday - What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at bookjourney to allow us to share with others in the book-loving cyberworld what is on our reading plates.
This week I finished the following books:
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
- The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
- A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
- Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen by Susan Gregg Gilmore
Books in Progress:
- Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick
- Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin by Timothy Snyder
- A Mountain of Crumbs by Elena Gorokhova
- Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes (translated by Edith Grossman)
What are you reading this week?
Looks like you've got some heavy stuff there. Hope it's enjoyable. I'm struggling though Henry James but do read other books by the side. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue! I'm impressed. I haven't read Movable Feast yet, but Sun Also Rises is probably my favorite Hemingway (hard to compete with his stories).
ReplyDeleteLots still in progress for me, and none finished last week :(. Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years by Sue Townsend (my funny one), Tinkers by Paul Harding (the serious novel - must finish by tonight for book club), The Hot House: Life in Leavenworth Prison by Pete Earley (journalism), and the books I feel like I'll never finish: Raymond Carver's Collected Stories (don't want to finish) and The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins (a slog, although interesting).
I'm excited to see your review of the North Korea book. That looks fascinating. How is it so far?
Looks like you had a pretty good reading week - I'm looking forward to getting to A Movable Feast soon.
ReplyDeleteAnother great reading week for you, congrats! I mentioned Hemingway recently as an author I really need to read something by. Maybe The Sun Also Rises would be a good one to start with?
ReplyDeleteYou had an incredible reading week, and it looks like this one will be edifying as well! I am reading Women on the Edge of a Nervous Breakthrough, and though it's not my usual fare, it's surprisingly good!
ReplyDeleteA Reliable Wife is moving up my TBR pile. You had a great week!!

A Reliable Wife was a good one! I'm not a big Hemingway fan, so kudos to you for finishing those! I loved Don Quixote when I read it in college.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Monday: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/03/its-monday-what-are-reading.html
Don Quixote is one of my favorite classics. have two new projects coming up. My reading load will be out of control next month. Come see what I read.
ReplyDeletelooks like last week was a great reading week. I haven't made much progress on Don Quixote yet, must focus!!
