Book Beginnings on Friday

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.

From Almost Dead by Assaf Gavron:

I climbed aboard the Little No. 5 as I did every morning on my way to work.

A simple sentence, yet in my opinion appropriate given the tone of the rest of the book.

  1. Great opening! I hope you're enjoying it! Happy reading!

  2. That does pique my interest...the openers often do set the tone.

    Here's mine:

  3. The sentence does sound interesting. My Book Beginning is here. Happy reading!

  4. i loved his description of the Little vs. Big No. 5 after that...

i hope you are enjoying it. it's a fun book.

  5. It almost sounds as if this morning might be different, an unexpected occurence.

    Mine's here.

  6. It is a great opening. We know that the character is a person of routine from it. I like it. I hope you are enjoying the book

What do you think? Good or bad, I'd love to hear from you (but be nice - I'm sensitive!)
