- The Great Typo Hunt: Two Friends Changing the World, One Correction at a Time by Jeff Deck and Benjamin D. Herson
- The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle
- Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin by Timothy Snyder. I was just not in the frame of mind to continue reading about Stalin's efforts to kill Ukrainians; to say nothing about Hitler's antics.
Ah, The Tortilla Curtain! I loved it, hope you do too. I can imagine you abandoned Bloodlands. Well, I wouldn't have started it, but maybe it's something that interests you on a good day.

Good morning! I'm still working on The Hot House (Pete Earley) and Tinkers (Paul Harding). Just started Borkmann's Point by Håkan Nesser, which is the second in a detective series out of Sweden.
ReplyDeleteHow is the Tortilla Curtain? I love TC Boyle's short stories - is that a collection or a novel? And I certainly don't blame you for abandoning Bloodlands...those history tomes are hard anyway, and that subject matter is downright hideous to approach for days on end.

Don Quixote...that brings back memories from college. I didn't think I'd like it but wound up loving it.

I have liked T.C. Boyle for a really long time, though I have not read anything new from him in awhile. I hope you enjoy The Tortilla Curtain. I am reading Pox, An American History. It's about the smallpox epidemic in the early 1900's and all the problems it caused. Very interesting stuff!

Judith -- The Tortilla Curtain isn't doing much for me yet, but it's still early so I'll keep on with it.

Bev -- I'm enjoying Don Quixote, though he is, shall we say, a few sandwiches short of a picnic
Lisa -- I find it so hard to abandon a book but Bloodlands is one that you really need to be in the proper frame of mind for to appreciate its message.
Ann -- As long as I'm reading books that don't have much in common, I can read more than one at a time. The three I'm reading right now are all quite different.
