I did a good amount of reading last week, despite the fact I got pretty sick mid-week (which may or may not be a Ulysses curse). Thankfully I feel much better.
Anyways, here are the books I finished reading:
- I'll Mature When I'm Dead by Dave Barry
- Pere Goriot by Honore de Balzac (which was for my Classics book group that I had to miss when I was sick)
- Driftless by David Rhodes (for my book group discussion tonight at Read Between the Lynes)
- It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me by Ariel Leve
- Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie (for thelittlereader's June/July readalong)
- The Story of my Life by Helen Keller (for a non-fiction book group at my local library)
- Ulysses by James Joyce (my personal reading project)
- The Long Song by Andrea Levy
What are you reading this week?
I haven't read The Long Song yet, but I enjoyed her Small Island quite a bit. Have you read it?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your upcoming week ...it looks like a great lineup!
You did have a good week! Wow! The story f my life I bet is interesting. Enjoy all your reads this week!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love Dave Barry, he never fails to make me laugh.

Here's my week and enter my contest if you get the chance. http://dollycas.blogspot.com/
I just picked up The Long Song from the library last week. How long does it usually take you to finish a book? I haven't even started, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm doing the What's in a Name challenge, too. You know The Long Song could fulfill the "music term" criteria.
ReplyDeleteDonna -- you are right! I can totally use The Long Song for the What's in a Name Challenge -- thank you for pointing it out (I didn't even think about it). It's very interesting and I'm enjoying it. Depending on the book and what I have going on in my life, it takes me a day to a month to finish.
ReplyDeleteNancy -- I LOVED Small Island; it is one of my favorite books. Another Andrea Levy novel, Fruit of the Lemon, is also very good.
Sheila -- Helen Keller's story is very interesting. It's amazing how much she accomplished given her challenges and the time in which she lived.
dollycas -- Dave Barry is hilarious. There were a couple of essays in this book that made me laugh so hard I was crying.
Enjoy your reading this week everyone, and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
wow, what a week!?! i was in the bookstore the other day staring at Ulysses thinking about how i should pick it up and join you... but, i'm going to be taking an extra class next summer session and i know there's no way i could keep up.
